"shaktipata-anusarena shishyonugraham arhati"
By entering the current of Divine Shakti's descent into the heart, the true disciple becomes
capable of receiving Grace.
Anusara literally means to be in the flow of Grace, to be in the current of the Divine.
Yoga in its broadest sense is a collection of philosophical world views, techniques and methods to Self Realisation. Through Hatha Yoga (physical yoga) we develop a conscious relationship with the body and begin to understand the mind-body connection in such a way that we feel whole and supported, stronger and more flexible. For me yoga is a way to experience and explore our full human potential and that is what I aspire to share with students.
“Yoga is about awakening. Yoga is about creating a life that brings more love & more beauty into the world.
That is Anusara yoga.”
After many years of yoga practice, it was through Anusara® yoga that I gained a new level of physical and emotional well-being. Asana became a healing and highly therapeutic practice for my body and soul. Anusara® yoga is my primary tool for working with people in ways that I find meaningful as it so brilliantly offers answers for many of our concerns on the physical and philosophical level.
Anusara® yoga certification is among the most professional and demanding in the world, requiring many years of training. Key aspects of the method are the life-affirming Tantric philosophy, the Universal Principles of Alignment™ and Kula, or sense of community.
Tantric philosophy celebrates life and the human spirit as expressions of the Divine. The emphasis is not to transcend or reject but to embrace and transform.
The Universal Principles of Alignment™ are clear and elegant biomechanical principles that bring the body, breath and spirit into alignment for optimal strength and freedom so that these qualities may radiate into every aspect of our lives.
Kula means community. It is the field in which we apply the ideas of yoga to our lives. By connecting with others fully and with skill we experience ourselves as part of a larger vision of life. Through the reflections that community and relationships offer we learn and grow. We understand that our presence and contribution is meaningful and that our own well being is intrinsically linked to the well being of everything and everyone around us.

'Of the many excellent Anusara teachers I’ve trained with, no one embodies the principles and philosophy in the wholehearted, holistic way that Barbra does. She walks the talk and imparts the Anusara teachings expertly while she and her students have fun, seriously.'
